Final day of Australian Masters athletics Championships and results 2026 secret blog for killing track and Parkrun PBs

Today was my final day of competition in this Australian Masters athletics Championships for me with 2nd place in the m60 8000m run to go along with my 3rd place in the m65 10000m run on track a week prior. From tomorrow I will have a period of active recovery before committing to anything more strenuous. And I will enjoy this period  and focus on hehab of my hamstrings which I damaged in the 10000m event on day 1 of these championships.

Good to see you Bruce. Sorry about the lap-scoring stuff-up in the 10,000. Hope you get over the hamstring issue soon.

My final session on the beach at Moana this morning, again starting before dawn, the session: 500m warm up, 2 x 4km out and back with Munchkin the Border Collie. A highlight of good Friday was the large gathering of Easter Bunnies who double as a swimming group. After the beach a 6.5km run along the Mclaren Vale to Willunga Rail Trail. I finish this journey with 3 days of back to Back Racing on track and Cross Country, Saturday 1500m, Sunday 5000m Track, Monday 8000m Cross Country, Long Drive home.

Australian Masters Athletics Championships and Canberra Marathon Festival 10km Final preparations and Race Schedule

A huge Fortnight of race preparation and racing ahead with four big races starting this Sunday. This morning a steady 5km run as a warm up for the day with a lovely sunrise followed by a quick 10km Hill Loop and warm down. Weather cool to cold early, warming quickly at sunrise. End of Daylight Savings overnight bringing more light to the morning and less in the afternoon. On Thursday a drive to Canberra to collect race Bib for the 10km Road Race: The full Race Schedule for me: 10km Sunday, Drive 15 hours to Adelaide, Arrive Wednesday afternoon. Australian Masters Athletics Championships Begin. 1500m on Saturday,(Did not enter 1000m Track, too close to 10km Road Race), 5000m Sunday, 8000m XC On Monday, Drive 15 hours Home on Tuesday.
