Sutherland 2 Surf 11km (July Race)

A few days ago I entered Sutherland 2 Surf 11km mass participation race. Around 8000 participants all up, I first ran the event in 1984 aged 22. I've only raced it a few times, I was usually in France between 2008-2019 so missed it often. I did race it in 2015 (lead up to World Masters Athletics Championships in Lyon) and 2018 (lead up to WMAC Malaga). My best result was in 1984. I had been living, racing and training in Canberra with some great Australian athletes. Andrew Lloyd was winner in 1984. Some great Victorians were also in the field. My time was 33:50, through 10km in 30:20 and some very fast splits along the way including 8:27 at 3km. In 2015 I had splits of 9:15 3km, 15:57 5km and 33:13 10km. In 2018 in was 9:28 3km, 16:12 5km, 10km 33:38. No doubt I will have slowed more since 2018, now aged 60. I will look forward to the event.
