A trip back to the Cairngorms, Summer of 1999 nursing a meniscus tear, in Pictures

A youtube video posting today on photography in the Cairngorms (Scotland) and an email adding to my family tree Scottish heritage has sent me on a spin this afternoon, a trip back to the Cairngorms in the Summer of 1999. I spent some of the trip nursing and healing a meniscus tear in my left knee and purchased two ties, one for my surname clan, the other for my christian name clan, my only souvenirs from the trip in Inverness. My only regret, not visiting the town where the Movie 'Local Hero' was filmed.

Long Run 18km incl Hill Repeats 4 x 1500m

Rain overnight disapeared by morning, a much better day with light winds, partly cloudy. Today the run 18km including 4 x 1500m Hill efforts with long recovery on my regular hill loop. I can't say the rain is gone yet but the worst is over I hope. The ocean is rough and colored brown, driftwood everywhere. There was minor flooding in the river, fallen trees on the roads is being cleared this morning.

Today results from the Australian Masters Athletics Half Marathon Championship were published. Competitors could nominate a couple of events (just one for me) and compete at a sanctioned (postal) event anywhere in Australia. I wasn't confident in winning as I chose a Canberra event around the hilly lake loop on a very windy day. Fortune was on my side by winning a 6th Australian Masters Athletics Half Marathon age Championship. Three of those wins in Canberra, three in Ho

Beach and Golf Course Intervals 1 x 2km, 3 x 1km ; Rain Event

Morning interval set on the golf course and beaches as 1 x 2km, 3 x 1km, long warm down with the dog. Rain overnight, only showers this morning, big rain event from this afternoon and tomorrow a huge deluge predicted along with thunderstorms. I expect to be doing hill efforts close to home on a steep concrete path to get the job done when I can tomorrow. Things should clear up for the weekend.
