World Masters Games Auckland : M55-59 5000m 1st 16:45

World Masters Games M55 5000m 16:45. I ran the first 1500m as I would the 1500m heat tomorrow (an even paced 4:45) just in case the M55 1500m goes straight to final the following day. It was windy in the home straight and blew harder as the race progressed.

David Riches 2nd chased me for a few laps. He goes into M60 in May as a hot contender for the new age group.

A big weather event is brewing for much of my local area this afternoon and weekend. Up to 100mm predicted to fall with damaging winds. I've been through a few of these periods now. I've started setting up for indoor training. This morning a quick trip to the shop for supplies that the puppy will eat, another short run solo, and a short puppy training session of fetch the ball. I ran 80 minutes just before the weather arrived. Tassie Masters Athletics posted this video from the Australian Masters Athletics Championships mixed XC race a few days ago on their Youtube site. A great memory from such a great event.
