ACT Masters Track Week 1

Welcome back to the track. Funny we only get to race on track again with a couple of weeks before World Championships but that's how it goes.

It's my first week of six weeks holidays. That means no times restrictions and plenty of time for the garden and afternoon naps. Also this week no chocolate or cake temptations at work. With a few long runs thrown in I've ended up posting a 144km (90 mile) week almost by accident and lost 1kg, maybe more to come.

Weather was awful all day again. Wind was horrific. It only started to temper just before track started. On the program 3000m, followed shortly after by a 1500m and then a 1600m handicap. I ran the first two of those events. Minnie only the first, Kathy and Helen all three.

Of me: 11km morning run, (at track) 2km warm up, 4 x 100m (17,15,14.7,14.3), 3km jog, 3000m 9:49, 1000m jog, 4 x 100m strides, 1500m 4:48. I felt very strong out there on my own in the wind.

Kathy 3000m 13:07, 1500m 6:22 (both ACT W65 records), Helen 3000m 13:23 (led Kathy 1st half), 1500m 6:20.

Next set on track due to swooping magpie at Stromlo XC Circuit. Next week at track 5000m only.
