Weather Event Shows Signs of Improvement ; Morning Run 13km ; Afternoon Run 7km

Image
The weather system that's been impacting this region began to show signs of improvement from this morning although still windy with showers after full on winds, huge waves and rain overnight. I ran a short run before dawn in horrible conditions, I retreated inside and by the time I ventured out again 30 minutes later I was able to run 13km without miserable rain and wind. In the afternoon I ran 7km as planned. The weather should have mostly cleared off by Wednesday.

Weather Event Damaging Winds ; Power Outages ; Rain and Wind ; Local Runs 11km

Overnight the Weather System I Escaped from Yesterday caught up with me, cutting power, trees down, wind and constant rain. I ran 6km from home in the elements before heading home again to safety and comfort, completing another 5km indoors before calling quits for the day. Absolutely no chance of outdoor running with drizzle and high winds in the afternoon. This weather event is affecting most of South Eastern Australia and should improve by around Wednesday. I'll fit in as much running as I can during the breaks in weather.

Yesterday afternoon I ran 2 x 5km efforts on the Parkrun Course anticipating the rain that happened overnight and is continuing into today. I drove home in the darkness and Rain, very happy I ran yesterday in ideal conditions and got another couple of solid runs in my legs and Munchkin and I had such a great weekend again. If the rain eases today I'll run a solid 10km hill Loop from home.

No early morning run this morning, a drive South to prepare for Parkrun on Saturday. Some rain predicted for the weekend. As a backup plan I will run a 5km time trial today. Already spotted a large pod of dolphins close to shore.

Sea Fog and Drizzle Runs 20km ; Breaking 2 Eliud Kipchoge Alphafly Long Term Review

Image
Morning runs from home, 20km all up including the final 10km as a quick Tempo run. Weather was constant light drizzle, cloudy, no sun, a joy to be out there running in the mist. Yesterday afternoon my recovery run also turned into a quick 10km Tempo Run. I'm running better every day now, less than 3 weeks until I start racing proper events again. This mornings run was done in the Breaking 2 Eliud Kipchoge Alphafly. A good choice on a wet day, the shoes still have decent traction after all these years. I may pull them out again for my Half Marathon in May.

Glasshouse Rocks Beaches 4 x 700m Beach Intervals ; 20km Local Runs

Morning Trip to Glasshouse Rocks Beaches for a set of 4 x 700m Beach Intervals Racing Munchkin the Border Collie on fast packed sand at low tide. Weather Blue Sky, light winds, low humidity, A Typical Autumn Day for this time of Year. Long warm down from home in the Afternoon, 20km for the Day. I've noticed a lift in form since Parkrun, hopeful for another improvement in performance at Parkrun on this Saturday. Only two Parkrun events before I start racing proper events, ranging from 1500m to 10km and racing finished at the end of April, then dust my legs off again for a Half Marathon in May.
