Australian Masters Athletics : Cross Country
Last night on in the CBD, an English pub, nice food, nice company, some wine (a little less than the night before) and then coffee.
So much to say good about this weekend. The support from way south in Canberra, Thredbo and up north on the beach. The support at the track and on course. The social aspects, all nearly staying co-located in a nice palace, nice outings, nice friends. Oh, also the competitions. We all did well.
Today at the cross country a muddy course, long lush grass, one hill, 4 laps of 2km, warm, stillish, humid.
kt 4th W45
psw 3rd W55
roget finished M50
grey seal 8th M45 (excellent results this week)
sb 1st M45
Of me: Put my body in front of everyone else today, applied as much pressure as I could while always staying relaxed, sensed my moment and ran home on the last lap and a bit...free to fly.
The trot on the course before was valuable. There were some places definitely not good to run on (boggy, holes, long grass).
M45 most competitive this year. The mental, the physical, the tactical. Thanx for the tough tests to David, Shane and Robert.
Now to catch a plane home this afternoon. Two days rest. Three months in Europe. Will be watching last two stages of Tour de Romandie later this week. Voila.
Gary: Thanx for your generous words and support for us all. Best wishes for a big winter. It is I who should be supplying the bubbles as I will be in Epernay on Thursday afternoon.
David: Good luck with the niggles. Hope to catch up with you again at City2Surf or Tauranga or Melbourne. There are plenty of good M50 down there.

Thanks for all your hard work mate, the stream of SMS texts, phone calls, blogs, you name it - you did it. You were inclusive of everyone, a job which, I am sure, was really appreciated by all of us sitting here in Canberra.
I for one, and I am sure I can speak for the rest of the athletics community, am really proud of you, and the whole team that competed, not only for yourselves, but for the ACT region, well done to you all.
Enjoy the final moments, celebrate in style, then go off on your well deserved holiday - following the Tour de France.
Hope to see you when you get back.
P.s. I have a nice bottle of Bubbly waiting for you.
Cheers
Gary (GRIFFIN) Bowen

BTW the mysterious SMS this morning "gold, gold, gold," was from me on Pat's phone, couldn't get mine to text...
Well run on Sunday, you were unbeatable!
Nice to meet you and look forward to some racing in the future.
