Paris Training Camp Day 7 : 4 x 200m, 4 x 800m
Weather cloudy, some drizzle, warm and humid, light winds. My best track set thus far. I'm starting to feel very confident on how things are progressing.
The set: Warm up, 4 x 100m strides, 4 x 200m strides,200m jog (35,35,34,32), 4 x 800m tempo,400m jog (2:32,2:31,2:32,2:31), 4 x 100m strides, warm down. All up 13km, easy recovery run in the afternoon to make 135km last 7 days.
Thoughts on the set: 200m strides were effortless and quicker than last set. 800m efforts also good, set at 3:10/km or better. Last effort mentally tough (I didn't want to do it). Running form is feeling better each session. As long as I stay relaxed in training this will improve even more. I'd love to do more track sets over the summer now my left foot seems to be cured.
Very glad I came here to Paris for this camp. Canberra weather is still awful. There is no way I could get sets of this quality done back there. Both nice running track and Parkrun course a jog away here...same as at home...
Back at home on the weekend was Australian Masters Athletics Half Marathon Championships in Canberra. Again weather was a shocker (although normal). Many of my friends were running, some of my training partners. Jen W60 ran yet another all time PB of 1hr48min for 3rd place women AST. Great to see Louisa Abram there winning female...all class. Likewise David Riches scalping Shaun Creighton.
Female: 1. Louisa Abram 92.8% ; 2. Susan Archer 81.9% ; 3. Jennifer Kellett 80.5% ; 4. Clare Wall 79.3% ; 5. Caroline Campbell 76.1% ; 6 Michelle Wells 72.0% ; 7. Ann Staunton-Jugovic 70.9% ; 8. Ruth Baussmann 70.0% ; 9. Elizabeth Bennett 68.9% ; 10. Kali Newcomb 68.3%
Male: 1. David Riches 91.1% ; 2. Shaun Creighton 89.3% ; 3. Peter James 81.8% ; 4. Liam Stewart 81.0% ; 5. Anthony Kennedy 79.3% ; 6. Jeffrey Grey 78.9% ; 7. Peter Clarke 78.1% ; 8. David Beaven 77.3% ; 9. Adrian Davies 71.3% ; 10. John Kennedy 70.6%.
