Australian Masters Athletics Championships Day 3

This morning beautiful and still in the stadium and very cool. I was thinking what great conditions for the 5000m and a cold front passed though the city during the third race, winds gusty and stiff for the remaining events.

Race 1: W60+ 5000m: W60 Kathy 21:10? Led start to finish, won easily. W75 Ann Young Gold.

Race 2: W30+ 5000m: W45 KT 19:45 Bronze ; W50 Helen 20:31 Silver + Kelley 20:34 Bronze; W55 Maria 20:10 Gold.

Race 4: M50-59 5000m: M50 sb 16:16 Gold. Led start to finish but had to work hard to keep 2nd Steve Quirk 16:37 and 3rd Phil Clarke 16:40s at bay who were working in unison. Each lap in 2 parts, short stride into the wind, long stride riding the wind.

Race 5: M45 Robert Schwerkolt fastest of the day 16:08. We had identical splits until 600m to go.

Tmoz the crossy. Feeling very fatigued now, especially doing extra kilometres with the dog drama (lept off our balcony, lost until found a pound). Back to a full training load already. 20km today. 20km yesterday. 25km day before. An old sparring partner Michael Bialczac will start fresh tmoz (if he starts). Could be a worry. I still feel confident. Can't recall being beaten on that course.

Wow, what a swag of Bling by you guys and girls, hope those that are flying back have already made plans for excess baggage for the medals and all the clothing you have all bought :-)

What was the drama with the dog, that's not Bella jumping off the balcony, or was it ? Hope she is alright, and hope you haven't knackered yourself out Bruce...

All the best to those that are doing the Cross Country, let's hope the wind dies down a bit for you all, but then again, the wind could work in your favour, seeing as you have all trained in those conditions...

Thanx for the comments. Bella is ok even though she did leap off the balcony two stories high. Sore hip and broken nails only. I ran quite a few kilometres in search of her yesterday. We have her here, all is good although may not run for a few days.

Glad to hear all is well, and that Bella is okay too...

excellent work again Bruce! Shame about the wind. Glad Bella OK must be a relief!
Thanx David. Didn't know dogs could fly. Back to her usual self now, running ok, head out the car window on the 6:30 drive home sniffing the Hume. Right now asleep next to me feet.
