Parc Montsouris (Paris) : Afternoon Jog ; Steve 4 x 3 minute efforts

This morning up very early to catch the TGV from Saint Malo to Paris. Highlight was having a border Collie sit next to me on the train :-). There was a moment though, when the inspector found the dog did not have a valid ticket and there was a potential fine. Luckily the dog got off with a warning (serious).

After spending a few hours at the hotel resting I jogged to Parc Montsouris and ran a couple of laps in anticipation of Parkrun Montsouris tomorrow morning. The weather very warm to hot and sunny, no wind. The course quite hilly in a nice way. Three laps of the Parc with three long drags up what can be a fast climb. Around 17:30 is possible. Even with basically a rest day I still have 130km+ in my legs last 7 days.

A couple of days back Steve ran his weekly 4 x 3 minute efforts set. Splits: 3:55,3:39,3:48,3:39. Steve has had some great sets lately. This set was a little off where he is at.

As we know, training is a process of applying stress, allowing enough recovery to make an adaption. None of us are robots, we all have good days and bad days. What matters is getting to the start line of whatever events we are training for in good shape and putting in a good effort on that day. It's especially hard to train in the Canberra winter where it's cold, the days are short and we have to earn a living. That's why I've taken a break from Canberra in winter every year since 2008.
