Reims : Tour de France Stage 4 Departs ; Steve 10km Tempo Run

Big day of moving again. Up very early for jog to train station trip from Epernay to Reims. I had lots of time to wander Reims and participate in the Tour de France animations that happen before the riders depart. Then it was off to Reims train station again to catch a train to Paris. My hotel was an hour and forty minutes walk from the train station. No rush as the Tour de France coverage had just begun on TV...I'm watching that now.

This apartment is very near Chateau de Vincennes. The only time I've been here is running Marathon de Paris. I'll do some running over this year's Marathon de Paris course in coming days to get my head around next year's event which I will be running.



Today Steve ran a 10km tempo run. Average was 4:04/km with last 6km at sub-4:00/km. Another good session despite a recent lergy.

This week didn't start well with some lap timing marshals giving me an extra 3-4 laps to complete with no fault of my own before I could start to get back on terms in the 10000m event. As things panned out I suffered like most others in the heat and chasing back on was impossible for me once the hamstring muscles started saying No!! The 1000m result wasn't so bad, finishing 3rd behind the front running three in just over 42 minutes. I have just been going through the motions since the 1000m, cheering on as best I can from the sidelines. When I get back home in coming days I will have a short break and start again ant build up into running from again as soon as the hamstrings can repair themselves. Today was mostly walking on the lush course as Stromlo xc circuits. If by chance I can do a little more than that I will try. Otherwise I look forward to making the long trip home.
