Sunshine All Terrain Runs 20km ; Steve 30 minute Tempo Run

The gale force winds died down overnight. In the wake of the passing cold front I woke to a perfect morning with bright sunshine and no wind. First run a trip across the road to the viewing (One Tree) Point to spot whales, then run up the road to spot more whales. Big on the Horizon was still a huge motionless ship which has been waiting for days. Next trip a drive to Surf Beach, run to Glasshouse Rocks and return via the golf Course, all with Munchkin the Border Collie. Even more Humpback whales spotted at Surf Beach moving vey slowly with new born calves in tow. Back at home another run to the viewing point and back and long warm down. 20km for the day. Steve ran a 30 minute tempo run on his patch.

Of me: Early set. Same set as last 2 weeks, quicker again. 2000m (631), 1600m (5:13), 1200m (3:57)[first 4 efforts at 10km pace], 800m (2:30), 400m (69)...all with 200m recovery. Running technique much better. Form much better...not sure how much the form is due to iron jab or 5 weeks of consistent training and some great sessions. Of the others: I paced 5200m at exactly 4mins/km. Roget and Tori did what they could at that pace. Maria did 3 x 1000m. Janene on her own did similar to other weeks in the 4:10-4:15 range. Heidze did 1600m, 1200m, 800m, 400m and looking very comfortable in doing so. Kathy some strides. Helen this morning 4 x 7 minutes.

Big Weather Event Brewing ; Indoor Training ; Australian Masters Athletics Championships Mixed XC race

A big weather event is brewing for much of my local area this afternoon and weekend. Up to 100mm predicted to fall with damaging winds. I've been through a few of these periods now. I've started setting up for indoor training. This morning a quick trip to the shop for supplies that the puppy will eat, another short run solo, and a short puppy training session of fetch the ball. I ran 80 minutes just before the weather arrived. Tassie Masters Athletics posted this video from the Australian Masters Athletics Championships mixed XC race a few days ago on their Youtube site. A great memory from such a great event.
