Petit Foret : Recovery Jog

Being cooped up in an airplane post half marathon is not good for recovery. So glad that is over. This afternoon a petit run of 30 minutes in Petit Forest, straight after watching Tour de France finish in London on the TV.

Tomorrow Tour de France comes back to France and we begin our countdown to 100 TDF stage visits. Tomorrow in Lille for the finish will be number 90. All being well our 100th visit will be in walled old city of Carcasonne.

This week will be planned easy although I should still get 120km done. Next Monday (I think) will be my first hard day, a run up La Planche des Belles Filles at just below maximum threshold.

The images doesn't do it justice. The final pinch is quite tough and there are a few steeper pinches and some flatter spots as well on the way. I ran it twice in 2012 on consecutive days where I met my French running friends Claude and Virginie. We may catch up with them again this year in Gerardmer and /or Belles Filles. We will park down the bottom of the mountain. I expect there will be some great music and food festivities in Plancher Les-Mines at the foot of the climb on the day of the race and the day before. In 2012 they closed the road to vehicles far too early for us anyway.
