Pont Julien : 6,5,4,3,2,1 minutes on, 1 minute off ; 8 x 100m 17seconds, 1 minute off

A short drive to the velo trail at Pont Julien for my first session since Belles Filles. 6,5,4,3,2,1 minutes hard with each effort slightly quicker than the last. 1 minute recovery was enough as the efforts weren't intense enough to want more. At the end of the set I ran some 100m strides to get leg speed back.

The shoes I was wearing didn't help with the speed on any of the efforts including strides. Too soft under foot, my training shoes aren't good for the transfer of force onto surface into speed. They are the same shoes I wore in the Gold Coast Half. It's almost pointless trying for too much speed as the return for more effort diminishes. In the end a nice rhythm without too much time on the toes works out best. At least they keep me relatively uninjured which is why I have 4 pair and will order 4 more when I get back home.

Post session a dip in a muddy hole. Sadly our favourite secret cherry tree of 2011 had none left. So many good picque niques and runs had at this little spot.

After the set we shopped at Apt and made it to Bonnieux just in time for the market and made picque nique on top of the perched village. A nice view of Mont Ventoux from up there.

Near Bonnieux are the two winderies from the film 'Á Good Year' featuring Abbie Cornish and Russell Crowe. Duflot's winery is Chateau Eydins and the main scene from the film is Chateau la Canorgue. At cellar door we picked up two bottles of wine (2011 and 2012 vintage), the same as we tasted in 2011. Can't wait to taste again.
