Olympics Swimming TV Watching ; No Beach Run Dangerous Surf : Running from Home

Image
Another 4am alarm to watch the Olympics Swimming on TV, well worth the effort. Soon after a drive to the beach to find it incredibly dangerous with waves surging high up the beach. We did get one kilometre of running in, to and from the car park on hilly single track, the remainder of the running to be done from home where I completed my 17km for the day and tuned into the Women's and later Men's Olympics triathlon. Very entertaining with many crashes on the bikes early, heat issues later in the run.

Alarm set for 4am to watch the Olympics Swimming finals, then a drive to the beach for a run with Munchkin the Border Collie. Huge waves again on the coast, we had to be careful with surges coming high up on the shore. So much Olympics to catch up on later back at home later this morning. Steve ran 3 X 1lm efforts at his patch, all around 3:20/km. I got my 17km for the day done in time to walk the dog for a 3rd time and catch up on all Olympics action, then set the alarm at 4 am for the swimming.

Hazardous Surf Beach Run 10km

Another late start to the morning after catching up on all the Olympic Games news while I was asleep. I drove to Glasshouse Rocks Beach with Milli the Border Collie knowing the weather would be challenging. We ran 10km out and back along the beach at dead low tide keeping our distance from any ocean surges onto the beach. I'm glad we got that done. It is still very windy at home. Indoor training for the rest of the day.

All Terrain Run with Munchkin and Milli the Border Collies

A late start to the running on a crisp, sunny morning. Milli, Munchkin and I made the most of a Sunday morning to run on the golf course to Glasshouse Rocks Beaches and return on single track. Over 130km in the legs this week. After the run a catch up with the events I missed while I nodded off including the mens basketball, conclusion to the Rugby7s, swimming and part of the men's road time trial. I will do a short walk before I refresh for the next events viewing.

Another All nighter watching Paris Olympics on TV :-)

I spent another night watching Olympics in Paris, this time more 7s Rugby, Hockey and Road cycling Time Trials. I am loving every minute of it. Another late start to running in the morning looks likely.

This morning Steve ran a 3000m Time Trial on his patch. I had a delayed start to the morning after watching the Rugby 7s match and Magical Paris Olympics Opening on TV from 1am until 6am. Munchkin and I ran at Glasshouse Rocks Beach 2 x 3km efforts full gas on fast, hard packed sand. At home after the run a long warm down. In the afternoon a second run on the beach at home.

Morning run on Glasshouse Rocks Beaches racing Munchkin and Milli the Border Collies. Munchkin was the quickest today, Milli looked tired but still pushed us all the way. In the afternoon a second steady run. Olympics TV Watching has filled the void Post Tour de France. I am most anticipating athletics and swimming. Rugby 7s has been a great fill in until the swimming and Athletics come.

Morning session of 3 x 3km on Glasshouse Rocks Beach chasing Munchkin the Border Collie. We also pushed it hard on the climb out of the Beach on single track. At home a long warm down. In the afternoon 2 x One Mile Hill Efforts, 19km for the day. Training update: A couple of days ago I completed week 15 in this almost 12 month base training building block, 122km for that week. The last 3 weeks have been 122km,123km,125km. I will start preparation to resume Parkrun in the next fortnight or so. I'll have to get through some specific sessions before going to Parkrun in early August. I'll resume structured workouts after running the first Parkrun and finding out where I am at and what is missing. Key is to remain injury free. My main goal of Australian Masters Athletics Championships is not until 18th April 2025.
