Steve 4 x 500m, 3 Minutes Recovery : Stromlo XC Intervals 4 x 500m, 1500m Time Trial 4:43 : World Masters Athletics Championships 2022 Tampere
Freezing minus 2 degrees with a cold wind to match. Steve ran 4 x 500m, 3 minutes recovery on bike path. Splits: 1:30,1:31,1:33,1:31. I got out at Stromlo XC circuits later in the day for a similar set of 4 x 500m plus a 1500m time trial in 4:43.6 as I build back up to good form again. Splits (500m): 1:31.5,1:40.2(into wind),1:31.9. I'll repeat the same set on Thursday with a 5km time trial scheduled on the weekend. Keith ran 4 x 500m hills with 2 minutes passive recovery.
It looks like a World Masters Athletics Championships will be on again after a Covid break, the last Championships held in Malaga Spain in 2018. Contracts were signed a few days ago with Tampere, Finland the host city, June/July 2022. It looks likely I'll be able to get out of Australia then. Plenty of boxes to tick to make that happen. I would also be able to see the last week or so of Tour de France. Logistics could be a 90 day trip and living out of a Renault Kangoo (or similar), collected in Paris as I have done many times. I've only been to Finland once, for orienteering in July 1999. A week long trip, flying from Paris to Stockholm and Luleå(Lapland), then driving with a soft toy Moose(Moosie)to Ylitornio where the school mascot is a mosquito, then the Arctic circle where Santa lives. These are the words I know in Finnish: yksi,kaksi,kolme,neljä(1-4)&kiitos(thanks)
